Minor change to CAB’s classification system

On 1 August we’ll be renaming CAB’s existing PGR (Parental Guidance Recommended) classification to M (Mature) to avoid any possible confusion with the BSA’s new PG classification for free-to-air television.

The formal definition will be as follows:

M (Mature) – May be broadcast after 7.30pm or during news programmes, or daytime programmes suited for mature audiences but not necessarily unsuitable for child viewers when subject to the guidance of a parent or an adult.

In practical terms this change is simply a change of name. On 31 July we will re-label all commercials in our approvals database with a valid Parental Guidance Recommended (PGR) classification to Mature (M).

No other action is required.
